Nyx smiled, "You realize there are two distinct werwolf bites..." From the look on her face, he knew she didn't and taking her arm he lead her past the hospital and down to where his study was. She looked as if she were going to die from embarasment, and Nyx gave her an easy smile as he opened the door and allowed her to enter. The room was decorated in the traditional Japanese style except for the large king sized bed. "Please sit...bring tea..." He said softly to his house elves who scurried off. When the tea was on the table he poured them each a cup. "Now you've had the bite for nearly a year. First transformations usually take place instantly and very close to the time of recieving the bite, well for the first kind..." Nyx took off his hat and ran a hand threw his hair.

"I'm ahead of myself...let me explain. It is the werewolf saliva that causes the transformation, it is the carrier of the diease of Lycanthropy, which is why it can be gained with a single scratch and exposure to the tongue. That is the first kind of bite...the second is what you have. Morso di amore which is Italian, literally means the Bite of Love...now this requires the werewolf to hold back saliva and let the special poison in their teeth, which is canceled by the saliva, to pour into the wound." He could tell she was listening, intently, good.

"I've been a hunter of dark creatures for many years, I've seen many Morso di amore...whenever the infected gets near their mate the mark burns, a sort of calling that will make you want to stay with them. Now I laced your tea with a surpressant so you should be fine tonight, but I'd like you to come and have tea with me each day until I find this mystery werewolf..." It was a lot for her to handle, and Nyx was sorta sad that she had to take it...but if she were truly a Hufflepuff she would overcome...

Breath.
She closed her eyes and silently counted to 15.
It'll be fine. You'll be fine.
Opening her eyes, she replied calmly: "Okay."
She fought to keep her face straight. To keep it from crumpling. To keep herself from crying. To hold any honor or decency she had left.
"Thanks a lot for your help, Professor. But I have to go to my room now. Dinner is probably over and my roommates will be wondering where I am." Embarrassed, she added: "I don't know what would have happened if you hadn't been there to catch me."

Smiling Nyx replaced his hat. "It was nothing, if I hadn't caught you you're mate would have..." He gave her a warm look and placed his hand on her arm. Very slowly, so as not to draw the attention of the braclet, he was able to steal her relief. It filled him, her emotions, insecurity and relief, fatigue...Sighing he took his hand away. "Alright...well as I said before you'll have to take this each day, in your tea because it is horrible to take plain..." Nyx went to his store cupboard and shook his head. "Dear me...well It looks Alena that you'll need to visit Professor Hargreaves tomorrow, I'll have told him about your need for the potion...he keep us in fresh supplies..." Nyx scratched his head "Well you might as well go have tea with him...but if you start having any side effects come to me please..." He sat at his desk and watched her go, leaving him to pour over the stacks of papers, all the Hufflepuffs...

Sleepily, Alena wandered up and down the halls until she arrived to that painting by the kitchens.
I should probably say hello to Gus... She thought as her hand stilled in mid-air inches away from the portrait of the pears. Quickly she turned around and knocked on the kitchen's doors. Almost before she knocked, the door swung open and a chubby little house elf ran out to her. She knelt down and hugged him tightly and he appeared to be sobbing uncontrollably.
"Oh, Gus! How I've missed you so!" She laughed as she pulled a polka dotted handkerchief out of her pocket and handed it to him. "I s-s-saw you faint in the great h-h-hall! Please! Is Ms. Alena alright?" He wailed as he used the handkerchief to mop up his big tears. She smiled and patted him on the head. "I'm as right as rain, Gus! There, there. No need to be worried anymore! I'm sorry I scared you, old friend." He seemed to brighten up a bit. It never seemed fail to make him smile when she called him her friend. "I was just a little tired after the trip!" She added, trying to get him to stop the loud wailing, sure he would attract the attention of Mrs. Noris and that grouchy watchman.
Gus's eyes widened. "You missed your supper! You must be hungry! Come with me!" He said, grabbing her hand. Before she could say no, her stomach grumbled irritably. He smiled at her and pulled her through the door into the kitchen. After just a few moments, she was sitting at a table with a meal spread out before her. Gus stood by her side, watching her like a hawk for any complaints. "Everything looks so wonderful, Gus! Thank you so much! But..." His ears perked up and he began to wring his hands. "I would like it if you would eat with me, please." She smiled at his sudden excitement and watched him sit down at the stool next to her, and soon they were eating and laughing like old times. And for a while, she wasn't thinking of tonight's misshaps at all.

Shadow crept slowly out the Hufflepuff door and quickly skittered to the kitchen. He had always had midnight cravings, and though it was only about ten o'clock he was starving. Slowly he entered the kitchen only to be greeted by a quick chorus "Good Evening Master Redpaw." Shadow scratched the back of his head, all the house elves in Hogwarts knew his name, and all of them had personally served him his snack at one time or another. "Hey, I missed you guys...so what's on the menu tonight?" The elf closest to him, named Bubbles, giggled and held up the familiar tray. "Chicken livers, fresh goat heart and espically for your home coming your favorite steak!" Shadow took the tray loaded with raw meat and sat down at a table, with hunger on his mind he barely registered the fact that a girl and elf were sitting as well.

The blood dripped down his chin and unto his exposed chest as he bit into the heart. He licked the dribbles up with his index finger and quickly demolished the artery. Glancing up he smiled at the girl, not really caring that all he was wearing was his boxers. "You having a late night snack too?" He asked picking up a liver and tossing it into his mouth. He wiped his chin as another dribble of blood escaped his lips...then Shadow started chewing very slowly. He wasn't at the compound, she wasn't a wolf..Shadow was pretty sure she was about to faint, from the sight of him licking blood off his fingers...

Alena shivered and felt the blood drain quickly from her cheeks. And eerie feeling crept over her skin while watching him eat.
"You having a late night snack too?" She jumped when he spoke; She wasn't expecting him to acknowledge her. Weighing the possibilities, she answered as she played with the food on her plate. "I had a mishap and missed dinner." She occupied herself with drinking some butterbeer, so she wouldn't stare. But before she could stop herself, her eyes wandered to back to him. His tattoos. She couldn't take her eyes off of them.
With a shaky hand she hurried to finish her meal. Gus always seemed to worry about her if she left food untouched. And with this boy here, she wanted to leave as soon as possible...

Shaking his head Shadow lengthened his claws and quickly shredded his meat, before eating the strips one by one. As the meat on his plate was demolished, he proceded in drinking all the blood that had drained from the meat and was on the plate, he lapped it up like a dog would. Whiping his mouth Shadow saw that the girl was eating very quickly, he gave her a small smile. "You know if you eat that fast you'll get sick...try to enjoy your food." Where had he seen her before? Gus nodded "Yes, Miss, we wouldn't want you sick..." Shadow smiled and then stood and stretched. "You're in my house aren't you? Hufflepuff right?" He asked taking the damp cloth offered by Bubbles and wiping his chest, hands and face of all blood residue...

Why do you think I'm eating fast you loon? It sure isn't because of the house elves!
Willing herself to eat slower, (Because now she was being watched intently by Gus.) she watched the boy curiously. "Yes. I'm a second year Hufflepuff... But I'm 15." She answered in a surprisingly calm voice.
I wonder if this is... no... it couldn't be..
After a few moments of silence, (in which she grew more and more terrified.) she added.
"I'm Alena Lovett." Timidly, she held out her hand for him to shake.
With a shiver she thought: Does Professor Herman know about this boy?

Careful not to scratch her Shadow extended a hand and shook hers. "Shadow Redpaw, I'm a fourth year Hufflepuff...though I'm 16 I started a bit late." She smelled nice, and it was the scent more than the face that tickled the back of his mind. I've met her before, he thought softly, her smell is so...soft.
Shadow had the urge to run his finger along her face, lower his mouth to hers, capture her sweet scent in the middle of her...Shaking his head Shadow smiled. "Well if its alright with Gus, I'll escort you back to the Common room?" His smile was warm and coaxing, with a full stomach he was ready to go to sleep and prepare for classes...

Taken aback by his surprising smile, Alena gave a small nod, and before she knew it, she was hugging Gus goodnight and being walked out the kitchen door.
Tickling the bowl of pears in the portrait, Shadow stepped aside and let her walk through the door first. "So why are you only in your second year?" He asked, sitting down in one of the yellow and black fluffy chairs, obviously not quite ready to go upstairs. "Why are you only in your fourth?" She asked smoothly.
"Touche." He grinned dangerously. Glancing around the room, she took note that all of the chairs were empty, and the fire was getting low. Nice going! You were told to be careful. And here you are, on your first night back, in a room alone with a werewolf! She thought angrily to herself.
All of the Hufflepuffs will come down for breakfast in the morning, and there you'll be. Either lying in a pool of blood, ready to tear someone's heart out during the next full moon, or worse! Just lying in a pool of blood! Who'll tell your mother?!
"You're staring." She jerked back to reality to see his amused eyes watching her. "I.. what?" She asked stupidly. "Staring. At me. Something you want to ask?" He asked as he smiled politely.
She shrugged slightly and nodded. "Yes, I suppose."
He stared intently, waiting for her to finish, but she just sat there in silence.
"Well? If you're going to ask, am a werewolf." He stated calmly, flashing a bit of sharp teeth.
She shivered again and began playing with her hair.
"No. I know that. I was just wondering if you were cold." He looked confused for a moment before she added, "You're wearing boxers, and the fire is out. I'd be cold."

Shadow laughed and bushed a hand over his chest. "Actually no, I don't usually get cold." He walked up to her and placed his warm hand against her skin. "My kind, are always very warm. The old saying is wolves are hot vampires cold..." He smiled and sat back down pulling his legs to his chest. Than with slow calculated movements Shadow stood and walked to the fire place, mumbling under his breath he pulled his wand from where it was hidden on the mantle and quickly lit a fire.

"The elves probably thought we'd go to bed right away...but this way you can stay and keep me company..." He grinned, and looked at the window enchanted to look like the sky outside. "A night with no moon, the holiday of werewolves...the night I was born was a night like this..." He flashed her another grin. "Though I am quite different from the human werewolves you've heard about..."

The heat from the fire rolled over her and she suddenly felt torn. A part of her wanted to run, but the other part of her, strangely enough, wanted to stay.
"A night with no moon? But I thought.. well you know..." She trailed off, feeling very stupid. "I thought you celebrated the full moon."
Think about it, dummy. That night... there was just a small slice of the moon hanging in the sky.
Watching him curl up in his chair gave her the warm feeling of ignorant safety, and she couldn't stop herself from sitting in the chair across from him with her feet tucked under her, relishing the warmth.
"Please, tell me about your kind." She asked quietly. "I've never had the chance to actually speak to a werewolf before..."

Closing his eyes a bit Shadow nodded. "Well you have to understand, werewolves and wolves are different. Wolves, are like pureblood wizards born into the world with our other forms. It is our kind that can make werewolves, like those in the muggle horror movies. Everyso often, we get a wizard or human that when changed has the ability to change others...Fenir Greyback, my cousin threw a biting has that power..." Shadow laid his head against the back of the chair, letting the softness cradle his head.

"I grew up in a community of people just like me, we can change shape at will, and so it wasn't unusual to see wolf babies being carried by human mothers. When children fought it was always a constant change between wolf and human form..." He looked at her and she looked puzzled...Shadow smiled. "Werewolves hate the full moon because they are forced to change, my kind can change as we please..." He looked at her in the firelight, very pretty, very...different. He enjoyed talking with her...with her smell so unique.

"We love each other, so much...Our town Compound is a village made of three families, the Greybacks, the Blacksnouts and my own family the Redpaws. There are other villages of our kind as well, but all of our families are very close. I had to leave my twin brother Twilight behind, he couldn't come to Hogwarts..." Shadow flashed Alena a quick and easy smile "He was always more wild...But enough about the life of a wolf, you will learn about us soon enough. What about you? Tell me something interesting, something you haven't told another soul." He leaned back in his chair, muscles rippling, tenseing just under the surface...

"Ooh, that's a tough one," She replied thoughtfully, a faint smile on her lips. "Because I tell people a lot of things about me, things that aren't necessarily true..." She trailed off, unsure of what to say next. "But I suppose I'll try and be truthful this time. I'll tell you about the dreams I have." Suddenly, she wasn't afraid of him very much anymore. "In my dreams, I'm never wearing the old yellow and black crest. No, in my dreams, I'm wearing the silver and emerald. I suppose it's because I'm constantly afraid I was put in this house by a mere mistake. Maybe the Hat got confused, or maybe I somehow lied to it when it was placed atop my head. And everyday, I worry that I'll be told to gather my things and go to the Slytherin house, or worse, expelled!" She blushed and quickly added, "Not very important, I know. But it's something I've never shared with anyone, and something that bothers me every day. I'm just so afraid I'm not fit for the Hufflepuff 'just and loyal, forgive and forget, accept and love' way of life, you know?" Suddenly, she looked ashamed. "Well, I mean... Of course you don't. You probably have more worries than I do!"

Shaking his head Shadow looked into the flames of the fire. "Would you believe me if I said I don't believe that?" He sat up and looked into her eyes, his different colored ones boring into her brown ones. In them he saw kindness, and loyalty, Shadow shook his head. "You aren't a Slytherin, were never meant to be one. Though I've met a few Slytherin's like you..you don't have the need for power in you. Do you understand? All Slytherins are fighting for something, and its that fight that they put up everyday that is why they are in Slyherin..." He ran a hand threw his hair.

"Me, on the other hand...I begged the hat to put me in Hufflepuff...I should have been in Slytherin." He lowered his head and started to laugh. "I remember saying, please put me in Hufflepuff...if anyone ever finds out about me it will be easier to deal with than if I go to Slytherin...My sorting took about forty-five minutes.." Looking up his face was blank.

"Now they won't make you change houses, you shouldn't worry about it little duck." He stood and sat down next to her the difference in height apparant. Very slowly he wrapped an arm around the chair back behind her and closed his eyes. He knew her, somehow, he knew her scent, her shape and voice. "Now I believe its time to head to bed..." Though he knew he wouldn't sleep, he would b plagued with the dreams again...they were always in his wolf form, a house...a man fighting them off...a girl screaming...

Alena suddenly felt very awkward.
And why did he put his arm around me, and then say it was bedtime?
Before she could try controlling it, she could feel her cheeks, neck and ears burning.
"Uhm, bed. Yes. You're right. First day of school and all.." She muttered, unable to get her legs to work. "Goodnight then, Shadow."

Shadow grinned at her. "Yes, tomorrow we have classes and its quite late..." He helped her keep her balance and lead her to the stairs that would lead to her dorm. "Good night, little duck..." Shadow said softly before leaning into her, her smell tickled his nose and he brushed his face against her cheek before whispering in her ear.
"Breakfast, with me tomorrow..." He asked softly, he felt her shiver and, had she been a wolf, he would have kissed her right then. Instead he held in his feelings with a growl deep in his chest, almost like a purr and leaned away...his eyes turning slowly black as he fought the transformation inside...

Did he just ... purr at me?
Alena shivered and a shocked smile took over her lips as she nodded. "Alright. Breakfast."
She lifted her hand to her cheek where his had been a few seconds ago and added, "Thank you." Her eyes widened and she managed to stammer out, "For walking me to my room, I mean! Oh gosh. Goodnight!" And with that she turned and ran up the stairs to her room as fast as she could. Quietly, she closed her door and turned to her four poster bed. Humphrey was sitting on it and he glared at her. "I'm sorry!! I know, I know! I left alone for a while, but I'm back now! I had to see Professor Herman about something." She whispered, so as not to take up her roommates. Smiling, she produced a can of soft cat food from her bag, and at once, Humphrey ran over to her and starting purring and twining around her legs. "Oh, Humphrey. You'll never believe the night I've had. You'll probably think I'm crazy!" He just ignored her and continued to basically inhale the contents of the can.
It wasn't until she sat down on her bed that she realized how completely worn and tired she was. She fell asleep before her head hit the pillow, the last thought in her head being, What a strange year this will be.

The morning came about quickly, far too quickly for Eirwen Weasley. It felt as if she'd barely shut her eyes when the sun was in her eyes proding at her to wake up. Grunting the blonde rolled out of bed and stumbled to her trunk. With sleepy eyes, Eirwen put on her clothes and robes, grabbed her wand and tripped down the stairs to the common room. "Too early need...sleep..." She said softly, until a large pair of hands shook her. "Eirwen, come on time to wake up.." Eirwen opened an eye and smiled. "Shut it Egan I know..." The red head looked down at the blonde and gave her a quick wink. Eirwen blushed, she'd always had a huge crush on Egan but knew that Sophronia was in love with Egan...It made everything more difficult. "What? You're staring at me!" He said and plopped next to her, a large grin on his face. "Nothing Egan..." Eirwen smiled...

Shadow was down in the Great Hall already, he didn't need much sleep espically since he wasn't running every night in wolf form. Glancing up he saw Alena come into the hall, looking slightly dishelved and frustrated. As she sat down next to him Shadow couldn't help but laugh. "Have trouble getting down this morning?" Smiling he poured her a glass of orange juice and sipped his, watching her nod furiously...

Nyx smiled and dropped a blood tablet into his morning coffee, adding them to different drinks always gave them a zing. It was when he saw Alena talking with Shadow that he became concerned...that boy was different...he had a different smell, and the way he was watching and catering to Alena made Nyx wonder what the boy was up to or what he was...

Adding some sugar to her orange juice, Alena gritted her teeth, trying to calm down a little.
"It was those damn stairs!" She ranted angrily, ignoring his amused look. "Every time I think I have them figured out, they switch around and I get put on the other side of the school! And to make matters even worse, Filch found my in the East wing. Yes. Stop laughing at me! I know that's the wrong side! Anyways, I just got a first warning for 'dawdling and snooping around'!" She took a long drink from her orange juice and put her head in her hands. "And that's not all! I think I might have started an all out Wizarding Duel between two 6 years!" She wailed. "It was awful! But I overcame these stupid disturbances to come eat breakfast with you." She smiled at him then. "So, here I am, finally!"

"Yes, finally..." He said and softly stroked her face with his hand. It was hard, just to sit by her and not touch her soft skin, to taste her sweetness...Shadow shook his head and took another bit of his sausage. "Yuck...I hate this stuff...it always tastes burnt..." Putting the offensive link back on his plate Shadow cut into his very raw steak. They always had the differnet kinds but it was an unspoken rule in Hufflepuff that Shadow always got the rare ones.
"Well if you over came all of that it must mean you really wanted to eat with me, hmmm?" Shadow said goading her as she placed more sugar in her orange juice. Then he felt eyes burning into him, Shadow turned around and saw Professor Herman looking at him in the way that was far too close. Trying to change the subject to hide his discomfort Shadow said "So what's your first class?"

"My first class. Potions, I suppose." Alena said faintly, trying to recall if that was right or not.
With a sudden jump, she remember that she had left her schedule on her freshly made bed...
So she didn't seem to notice Shadow's sudden uneasiness, and took a bite of her scrambled eggs. Glancing up at the head table, she searched for Professor Hargreaves, but he appeared to be absent. Probably getting ready for his first class. "I met the teacher yesterday. He's new. His name is Professor Hargreaves.. What's your first class?"

Tilting his head to the side so he could get a better look at Alena Shadow grinned. "Transfiguration, the stuff of champions..." Across the table, a fellow Hufflepuff with bushy hair, pimples, and buck teeth was kissing her boyfriend who equally frumy was currently sporting green hair. Shadow grinned, and leaned in brushing his lips lightly against Alena's..."Alena...I have to tell you a secret...I..." He was stopped from finishing as Nyx walked up to them. He rapped the girl and boy on the heads with his cane and his hand was gripping Shadow's arm.
"Need I remind the students of Hufflepuff House that I nor the headmaster will allow public displays of affection...and further more I would really encourage those with...dental problems to consult Madam Pomfrey before exploring anothers mouth." As he said this, Nyx looked at Shadow "We wouldn't want any accidents..." As he walked away Shadow chugged his orange juice and closed his eyes, how did the Professor know he was fighting the urge to bite Alena's lip, before gently sucking and tugging on it...before taking her tongue in his...Shadow moaned inside, this was going to be so hard...

Alena's eyes widened in wonder and shock. Did that just actually happen? Her mind went blank and she was sure her lips were burning where his had touched.
And what did Professor Herman mean by 'dental problems'? Does he know...?
"Shadow, I... did you have something you wanted to tell me?" She took a nervous sip from her cup and avoided his eyes, instead looking after Professor Herman, who seemed very pleased with himself. When he looked up and his eyes met hers she quickly looked away in embarrassment, and turned to the red and green haired couple across from her. I wonder why the professor didn't yell at them... surely a light kiss isn't as bad as a full on snog! She thought with a slight hint of bitterness.

Shadow poured more orange juice and drank it. "Yes, well...uhh...sorry I have to go." He stood up nearly knocking into the Ravenclaws behind him. Shadow strode out of the hall and quickly ran to the entrance. Once out side, he easily bounded on all fours to the forest. Ripping his clothes off without any grace Shadow let loose the flood gates of his emotions and transformed into his wolf self. With a purpose he ran threw the woods until the extra energy was burned off...As the black wolfish man he continued to run until he saw a silvery wolf threw the trees...

Herman took the oppurtunity to sit next to Alena, causing the snogging couple to stop, blush and scurry away to classes. "Good morning Alena...I see you've made a new friend...though I never took to like hairy fellows." Nyx dropped a blood tablet into his pumpkin juice causing a black haired Hufflepuff to go pale and run from the table as he drank. "How have your symptoms been?"
